Oui c'est de loin la meilleure chanson "yé-yé" (style que je trouve assez niais et mièvre en général)

I'm not French, I'm Luxembourgish:) The situation and importance of the languages spoken in Luxembourg is often not clear, so I try at least to point out that actually there is a language called Luxembourgish.
I like your first comment as an attempt to explain why "Poupée de cire..." was the song for Luxembourg, although Gall, Gainsbourg and Goraguer are French, and the lyrics are in French. It's just a way for France to enter the contest 3 times (for France, Luxembourg and Monaco)^^

No problem; I understand exactly what you're saying :) My original comment was misleading. You're French, and I'm not really in the position to be telling you about your own language!
désolé pour vous tracasser...

I know about the three official languages, but Luxembourgish is the language of the luxembourgish people(slight difference). It's right that Luxemburgers also speak French and that in everyday life you almost have to speak French to survive. I made the comment just to point out that French isn't the ONLY language spoken in Luxembourg, because that's what I made out of your comment. It wouldn't surprise me if you didn't know about that b/c most people don't and thus I wanted to be more precise:)

Erm...your government? O They say that officially, Luxembourg has three official languages; German, French and Luxembourgish - apparently in that numerical order of total speakers. So no... I am right, the people of Luxembourg do speak French :)
You would assume that my country, the United Kingdom, only speaks English, but you'd be wrong - it has millions of speakers of Welsh, Irish, Ulster Scots, Scots, Scottish Gaelic, and Cornish. |
